Hello everyone!

Almost every classic car enthusiast has spent at least a little bit of time watching the Mecum and Barrett Jackson auctions, trying to guess what each car will bring, and daydreaming about bringing home their own dream car.  When we heard that Mecum Auctions was coming to Harrisburg in our own state of Pennsylvania, we knew we would have to take the opportunity to do some guessing and daydreaming in person!

The auction ran from Thursday-Saturday, July 24-26.  We didn’t waste any time- arriving in time to be among the first in line on Thursday morning.  It was a bit chaotic and slow-going, as Mecum wasn’t expecting nearly so many people to come pouring in so early in the day.  Hopefully next time they’ll remember that we take our cars seriously here on the East Coast!

Once we finally got inside, we were astounded by the percentage of cars up for auction that were corvettes! There were frame-off restored Vettes, all-original survivor Vettes, resto-mod Vettes, custom designed vettes- you name it, they had it!

Mecum is referring to this auction as an “over-the-top success.”  The number of bidders and visitors was astounding- exceeding 20,000 people.  We talked to several fellow bidders and they were certainly from all over the East Coast- not just Pennsylvania, meaning that Mecum hit their intended target for this to be their East Coast auction. The selection of cars up for sale was quite impressive, as was the amount that sold- 70%!  In fact, with $21,111,582 in total sales, Harrisburg set the new record for sales at an inaugural consignment collector car auction.     We were thrilled to hear these positive results, and to hear Mecum announce that they will be returning again next year!  We hope this becomes one of Mecum’s strongest yearly events that we can participate in for years to come!
