Hi Everyone,

With spring (hopefully) here to stay, it’s time for us in the Northeast to work on uncovering our Corvettes and getting them ready for cruising and car shows.
I like to start by hooking up the battery and charging it, followed by looking underneath for new leaks. I look especially for leaks from the brakes; Corvettes are well-known for blowing calipers during the winter months while not in use. After making sure there are no new leaks, I check the tire pressure. You would be amazed how many Corvettes I buy that have 10-20 PSI in the tires and the owners wonder why the Vette does not handle well! Next, I change the oil and filter so that I am firing it up on fresh oil instead of year-old oil. After the oil change, it’s time to start the vette. I crank it over until I get oil pressure before it starts. Once my Corvette is running, I let it warm up and make sure the thermostat is working properly. Once the car is warmed up and I have checked to be sure I have brakes, it’s time for cruising and detailing.

If you didn’t already have a routine in place for bringing your Corvette out for the season, I hope this will get you off to a smart and safe start.  Happy cruising

Until next time,
RJ Sottile
