Hello All,
One of the things I love about car people is that if you look hard enough, you can find them pretty much anywhere. Last weekend my fiancé and I were about 2 hours from home, visiting some friends who just just moved to West Virginia. We were headed to dinner in Maryland, just over the border from their home, when we started spotting all kinds of rat rods and classic cars on the road. We knew there had to be a car show or cruise-in going on somewhere, so we decided to check it out after dinner.
It didn’t take us long to find what we were looking for- a weekly cruise-in that averages 300 cars a week at a large shopping mall. We love our own local cruise-in in PA, but we’ve come to know most of the cars that show up, so it was a lot of fun to check out 300 cars that we had never laid eyes on before. There were several off-the-wall rat rods that we just loved, and of course, some nice classic corvettes.
The most surprising part of the night was when we walked past the DJ stand and realized that we knew the DJ! He is part of a group that comes to a large rod run near our home every year. It was great to catch up, and it just goes to show that in the close-knit community of car enthusiasts, you never know who you’re going to find!
Until next time,
RJ Sottile
