1975 Corvette Prices & Value
Values vary widely by condition, originality, and drivetrain. Here are some general guidelines to consider when shopping for a ’75 Corvette:
- Powertrain premium: Verified L82 cars typically command a noticeable premium over base 350s, especially with 4-speed manuals and good paperwork.
- Body style premium: Final-year convertible status adds value. Well-documented, unmodified convertibles are especially sought after.
- Originality & docs: Matching-numbers engine/trans, casting/date alignment, and tank sticker/POP often lift price.
- Condition tiers: True survivors (original paint/interior) and high-quality restorations outrank driver-quality cars. Poor repaint/bodywork or rust repairs decrease values.
- Options that help: AC, tilt/tele column, Posi-traction, desirable axle ratios, and period-correct wheels/trim support stronger pricing.
- Market notes: Seasonality, auction comps, and documentation quality often swing values more than small cosmetic upgrades.

1975 Corvette Interior & Aesthetic Changes
Nearly identical to the 1974 Corvette, the 1975 Corvette revealed very few notable aesthetic changes. The one design change worth noting, was made for safety and protection. On the front and rear bumper, a padding was added for extra protection for varying impacts.
Another notable change, was the rear bumper fascia. If you read our post for the 1974 Corvette, you will recall that the rear bumper fascia was made of two separate pieces, making for a noticeable seam down the center. We pointed out that this made the 1974 Corvette very easy to pinpoint. In 1975, the rear bumper was redesigned to be one, seamless, whole piece.
We continue to mention, that just as notable as the additions, are the removals. 1975 would be the last year of the third generation Corvettes to offer the convertible as an option. If you haven’t noticed in the option codes, production and pricing chart following this post, the numbers for convertibles ordered have been dramatically declining. This year, of the impressive 38,465 Corvettes produced and ordered, only 4,629 were convertibles. This means that the 1975 Convertible Corvettes just barely counted for 12% of the Corvettes ordered.
While the declining of the orders was the original argument for cutting the convertible, the pending legislation banning fully open model cars was the catalyst. When this talk began, Chevrolet made the decision to cut convertibles for future models. Seeing as how we have convertibles today, it almost doesn’t need to be pointed out, that the talk of this radical change never came to fruition. Convertibles would eventually return to the Corvette assembly line, but they would never be more affordable than they had been before the decade long hiatus to come.
Additional Changes Made for the ‘75 Vette
1. Engine lineup:
a) Two 350-cid small-blocks only: 165 hp base and optional RPO L82 205 hp. No larger engines offered.
2. Model-year changes:
a) Few mechanical and aesthetic updates. L82 hood emblems fitted to cars with the optional engine.
3. Catalytic converter introduced:
a) First year for catalytic converters, converting toxic exhaust gases via catalyzed reactions.
4. Exhaust layout:
a) Dual pipes merged into a single converter, then split again to dual mufflers and tailpipes. This effectively ended true dual-exhaust for 1975.
5. Fuel & efficiency:
a) With unleaded fuel and the new catalyst, the 1975 was billed as “a more efficient Corvette.”
6. Instrumentation updates:
a) Tachometer switched from mechanical to electronic drive. km/h added as subtext beneath mph on the speedometer.

Frequently Asked Questions about ‘75 Corvettes
What features should I look for in a 1975 Corvette?
- Documentation/originality: matching-numbers engine & trans, casting/date alignment, tank sticker/POP.
- Desirable equipment: L82 engine, 4-speed manual, Posi-traction, A/C, tilt-tele column.
- 75 specifics: intact HEI ignition and catalytic converter hardware. Final-year convertible.
How can I determine the best price for a 1975 Corvette?
Start with recent comps that match body style (convertible premium), engine (L82 vs base), transmission, mileage, and documentation. Adjust for needed reconditioning (brakes, bushings, fuel/cooling, catalyst) and color correctness.
What are the common issues with 1975 Corvettes?
Which trims or models of 1975 Corvettes are most desirable?
Generally: L82, 4-speed, and convertible examples with appealing original colors and strong paperwork lead demand. Unmodified, matching-numbers survivors tend to outpace similarly optioned driver cars.
How does the condition affect the value of a 1975 Corvette?
- Survivor: original paint/interior, great docs will be top of market.
- Quality restoration: correct parts/colors, photo/documented work will be strong value.
- Driver: honest cosmetic/mechanical wear can expect mid-market value.
- Project: rust, poor bodywork, missing emissions gear will be steep discounts.
